MY STORY

Paris-based soprano Kourtney J. Holmes is excited to embark on a new journey in the European cultural scene. This past season she performed the role of Mimi in La Boheme at the International Summer Opera Festival of Morelia and was also a soloist in their gala orchestral concert. Kourtney also returned to her hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana to perform the role of Girlfriend #2 in Jeanine Tesori and Tazewell Thompson’s Blue at New Orleans Opera and was also a resident artist at 2 French summer music festivals, the Côté Cour Festival in Provence and the CorsiClassic Festival in Corsica. She made her Parisian Debut with a personally programmed recital titled "Saisons D'amour," which included standard operatic repertoire, African American spirituals, French Melodie, cabaret, and musical theater numbers. This well-rounded program reflects Kourtney's artistry and strengths in versatility. 

Additional role highlights include Rebecca Parker in Charlie Parker’s YARDBIRD with New Orleans Opera, as well as being a Resident Artist at The Banff Centre’s Opera in the 21st Century Program.

Kourtney graduated from the Louisiana State University: Turner-Fischer Center for Opera with her master's Degree in 2020. Notable roles include Edka in Two Remain and Madame Larina in Eugene Onegin. While pursuing her Doctorate of Musical Arts at The University of Nevada Las Vegas, she performed the roles of Annie in Royal Flush and Gasparina in La Canterina with UNLV Opera.

Kourtney also has a strong background in music education, having been a K-12 educator, private voice teacher, and university professor. As a singing teacher, she continues to advocate for her students and promote change throughout academia in an effort to make quality music education accessible to all.

Fun Facts: 

Kourtney worked as an Emergency Medical Technician throughout college.

She does interior design for herself and her friends as a hobby. 

She’s secretly a handyman and can fix or build almost anything.
